Disclaimer

Every number on this site is a planning estimate, not a quote or a guarantee. Here's exactly what that means before you order lumber. Last updated May 31, 2026.

Estimates only

Board foot results, cost figures, and shipping weights are calculated from the inputs you provide and standard industry conventions. They're meant to help you plan and sanity-check an invoice — not to serve as a binding quote. Confirm final quantities, grades, and prices with your supplier before you buy.

Prices change constantly

Reference prices reflect typical recent market ranges and vary widely by region, species, grade, kiln-drying, and supplier. By the time you read a figure here, the market may have moved. Use our lumber cost calculator with your own current per-board-foot price for the most accurate result.

Weights vary with moisture

Estimated shipping weights assume typical moisture content for the species. Green lumber is significantly heavier than kiln-dried, and weights drift as wood acclimates. Treat the weight figure as a load-planning ballpark, not a freight-grade measurement.

Not professional engineering advice

This site helps you estimate material quantities and costs. It does not provide structural, engineering, or building-code guidance. For load-bearing spans, joist sizing, or code compliance, consult a licensed professional. Board foot math tells you how much wood to buy, not whether a design is safe.

Accuracy and corrections

We work hard to keep formulas and charts correct and aligned with published grading rules. If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page — we prioritize fixes. Background on our method is on the about page.
